Getting Started

By default, rox-filer opens to your home directory.

There are many features of rox-filer. The best way to find out is to have a look at the rox manual on the rox website. Rox-filer makes extensive use of drag-and-drop, best done IMO, by having 2 filers open.

Here are a few tips to get you started.

  • Left-click on the file/folder to open contents.
  • A middle-click on a folder opens it in a separate file-manager.
  • A middle-click on a file will open the file and close the file-manager.
  • Right-click on a file/folder will open the rox dialog box, where you can set several options.

How to set default opening application for a file.

antiX comes with default settings when opening many file types. For example, clicking on an audio file (ogg, mp3) will open xmms, video files such as avi, mpeg, divx will open mplayer via xmms and a text file will open leafpad.

If you wish to change these defaults, for apps of your own choice,

Right-click on the file>File>Set Run Action

Type the name of the app in the Enter a shell command box.

Note: Leave a space between the last letter of the app and the " sign.

Save and now your file will open in the app of your choosing.
